What Do You Need?

    • Well you need your rod reel and line. What would be appropriate depends on what trip and species you plan and your experience level.
    • Waders and Boots
    • A Manitoba Fishing License. These can only be purchased from sellers during their business hours. This tends to be 10-9 Monday to Friday, 10- 6 Saturday and 12-5 Sundays. There is no practical way to purchase your license online like you can do in MANY other Canadian Provinces and American States
    • Outerwear to cover anything. We can have a hot spring, a cold summer and rain anytime.
    • A sense of adventure. You will probably be fishing for a new species, in a new way, in a new location or all of it combined

The What, Where and How We Fly Fish in Manitoba.

First off, to get a sense of the wide diversity of fish in the province check out our photo page

How Do We Fly Fish in Manitoba?

Where you live or what you have read about fly fishing typically involves trout in streams. We have trout and we have streams but most of our trout are in lakes and most of our streams have other kinds of fish. Most of our trout streams are a 3-6 hour drive from Winnipeg.

Having said that they are relatively untouched and both the scenery and fish are stunning!

If we want to fly fish in Manitoba we need to change gears a little bit. If you want to try for some trophy trout we can hit some western Lakes in float tubes.

If you are more interested in scenery or solitude we can hit a back country lake possibly for an exotic species

Your drive time can be from 45 minutes to the aforementioned 6 hours depending on the trip you choose and we can fish everything from drive to lakes and urban rivers to back country hikes.

Not all options listed are available all year long due to the seasonal habits of the fish.
