How to post a photo in a forum

~

~

The first thing you need to do is find yourself a photo host. This can take many forms. If you have high speed internet then your provider has ad free web space for you to use in this and many other fashions. The only problem with this is you need to have a FTP program to upload to these sites and an above average amount of computer knowledge.

An easier way is to find a web photo host. Some examples of these would be photobucket or imagestation.

You get a free account and follow their instructions about uploading your photos. Once this is done you can start this procedure.

1. When you open a thread or a reply in a thread click on the “image” icon. Which one is that? On our Fly Fishing Manitoba  message board it is the one that looks like a framed picture but other forums just have a button that says

img” or “image”.

2. When you have done this you will see this in the message section

[img][/img] On other forums it might come up with “url” in between the code. Like this:

3. Where the word “url” is or would be replace it with the url of your hosted photo that you have elsewhere on the internet.

4. How the heck do I do that? Well, two ways.

·                The easiest way is to go to your hosted photo site using a 2nd browser window.

·                Find the photo you want to insert into a photo.

·                Right click your mouse on the photo.

·                Look for the url/address of the photo.

·                Run your mouse over it while holding down the left button on your mouse.

·                Then right click on it and scroll to “copy” or you can press control+c on your keyboard.

·                Close that browser if you wish and go to the  window with the forum.

·                Open up the new thread or reply box click on the image box and “paste” or control+v the url  into the area between. Like this:

You must make sure that viewing to your photos is not subject to any passwords etc or this “hotlinking” as it is called will not work. Also some sites (yahoo, msn etc) allow very few views per page.

Hope this helps
