Lyon’s Lake Manitoba Still Water Fly Fishing
I have really put in my time in on this lake 1½ hours eat of Winnipeg. Over the years it has been everything from a numbers verses size lake to a size and numbers lake to a dead lake to a multi trout species lake. This day had me catching a few middling rainbow trout on my 4wt with one 22″+ brown trout!
It was also the debut of my new Fish Cat Scout. A Pontoon belly boat hybrid
Once More to the Breach
I seem to be using ½ my fishing time going after wild brookies.
There are worse things
Don’t ask where because I will not tell
Fairford River Freeze Off

The annual event got a break from the regulations this year because the general season now extends to the end of the public school break. So, instead of haveing to be the last Sunday of March it can be the last Sunday of March break. In this case the 3rd of April. So the temperatures where down right balmy
Fall on the Whiteshell RIver
I have a bit of a tradition that I keep. The last day trout season in Manitoba (at least for rivers) is the last day of October. The closest trout stream is the Whiteshell river. Sometimes I go before that. Fall is great ther because the fish have been stocked and acclimated and start acting like trout before they move to the lake or get predated upon or killed over winter or whatever happens to them so as there are no fish in the river in spring

MacArthur Falls One Pike and One Small Mouth Bass
Kinda my favorite quick stop warm water fishing spot. On this day I caught one bass (pictures) and one Pike (film) on the spey fly fishing rod.
It is big water.
Fly Fishing MacArthur Falls, Winnipeg River Manitoba
MacArthur falls is a multi-species location I like because of the low angler pressure and the big water I can fish with my spey and switch type fly rods. Bass pike Walleye and moon eye
Alberta Canada Fly Fishing Trip
Well we went to the Waterford Lakes area of Alberta for more than fishing but…
Sturgeon Creek Manitoba Fly Fishing
Sturgeon Creek is right here in town
good for when a mid week fishing trip is needed
Fly Fishing Sturgeon Creek Winnipeg
Right in Winnipeg here there are numerous creeks that feed the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. Sturgeon Creek is one I frequent.
It has mostly small pike and med carp. On this day I took my 5wt cane rod for a little in town action.
